Background: m-Xylene is an important material for producing pharmaceutics, pesticide and antistaling agent. Several common antifungal drugs such as fluconazole, ketoconazole, miconazole are produced from m-Xylene. Otherwise, it’s an important raw material and intermediate for producing fluorophenyl salicylic acid as analgesia and anti-inflammatory drug and other pesticides and fungicides. Dichlorobenzene made by chlorination treatment of benzene or chlorobenzene is usually composed of p-, m- and O- isomer. Producing highly pure m-xylene by traditional fractionation process is difficult. FX-202.1 adsorbent exhibits strongly selective adsorbing p- and o-diclorobenzene, providing a possibility for creating a new process of making pure m-diclorobenzene by adsorption separation. FX-202.1 adsorbent has high hydrophobicity. Water steam, and clorobenzene and some other organics can be used as de-sorbent. Both gas-phase and liquid-phase selective-adsorption separation technology are developed and have good industrial practical applications.

As shown in the figure, the saturated adsorption capacities are 180mg/g of p-xylene, 80mg/g of o-xylene and almost zero of m-xylene, respectively.
